The mms audio stream plays a lot better than MP3 on any player. Windows Media Player works best with WMA files and knows how to buffer the audio so we can hear it seamlessly

We no longer broadcast using Windows Media. Our licensing provider does not support monitoring Windows Media streams, thus we only offer MP3 and AAC+ streams.
Most Media Players, including Windows Media Player, can be set to buffer larger amounts of music before starting the stream. That usually reduces any streaming issues due to an inconsistent internet connection.
In Windows Media Player, under Options, Performance, try selecting your Network Speed and manually setting the buffer time.
