Hey all, on the 20th of July we took a listen to the 4th and final part of our multi week examinations of the New Romantics...we explored the reasons why the New Romantic movement fizzled out, namely:
1) It moved too much towards pop;
2) Some bands got too big for their own good (Duran Duran);
3) The image was destroyed by scandal (Boy George); and,
4) Some of those grouped in with the New Romantics broke away to discover their own new edgy sounds (Depeche Mode, Ultravox, Talk Talk and David Sylvian).
