suggestions for future AOTM

A place to discuss the current Flashback Featured Artist of The Month, as well to suggest future Flashback artists to feature.

suggestions for future AOTM

I'm not sure where we do this, but the little blurb in the main page said that this is a place to suggest future AOTM candidates. Have we ever had OMD as an AOTM? Looking at the library, we have lots of their stuff, and of course they are great, so I think they'd be a good candidate for the future.

OMD is a great choice, but they were featured previously. There is a post in this thread that gives the history on it.

My preferences for artist of the month (assuming Howard Jones is selected for August) are

1. a-ha
2. Alphaville
3. Oingo Boingo
4. Thomas Dolby
5. Simple Minds

I'd love to see (and hear) Oingo Boingo or Dolby as AOTM - two of my favorites.

All of the above, I believe, were choices fairly recently and lost. Outside of the runner up each month, I try not to repeat artists/groups for a few months. I am now posting who was in the running each month in the history section to make it easier.

The Go-Go's

Another one would be Grace Jones, but I don't think there are enough tracks in the library.

I think I might be an idea to feature some runner-up's in future AOTM, as alot of them originally were up against tough competition.

Also if the Artist features in the top 5 successful requests they should not be eligible for entry in to the AOTM.

:)

The first runner up is always in the next months AOTM.

how about some combined ATOMs (bands & solo projects) where there are maybe not enough tracks for them to be contenders on their own?
Wall of Voodoo and Stan Ridgway; Style Council and Paul Weller (though there is enough solo Weller out there if Ed is in a buying mood  )
just a couple examples to get started.

I'd like to put in a request that Devo be added to the AOTM poll in the near future. :D

Thanks Ed!
